"BEATLES HAIR POMADE"

"BEATLES HAIR POMADE"

I sought an old box of pomade in the shop  last week. And it seemed to be similar to those being sold at EBay for PhP 250.00. But the owner of the shop rather put it as a collection, a display that there's an old pomade made during the Beatlemania in the Philippines.

According to one blogsite of a collector, it was made perhaps to popularise the draper hairstyle of that said band. Kinda weird but that time it was trendy to make Beatles popular not just by making LPs, Posters, but also a pomade manufactured in San Juan, then a part of Rizal Province in the Philippines.

But sadly to say, the Beatles were been called "persona non grata" as well as threatened by the Presidential Guards in the Philippines for not showing to the President and to the First Lady in Malacanang during the 1960s. Perhaps I think because that time you need to present at the presidential palace and sing  some Filipino music like "Pamulinawen" for FM and "Dahil Sa Iyo" for FL as a foreign artist. Kinda weird but perhaps a factor-noticing that some foreign artists used to present to the first family during those times (like the Lettermen for example).
